Projects

The Sparrow

In 2022, Tiger Darling produced their first feature film, THE SPARROW, written and directed by Michael Kinirons and produced by Alicia Ní Ghráinne. The film stars David O’Hara (BRAVEHEART/THE DEPARTED), Éanna Hardwicke (NORMAL PEOPLE) and newcomer, Ollie West. Screen Ireland is the majority financier of this €1.5m project and leading UK sales agents, Bankside Films, are handling sales. The film premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh, where it won Best First Irish Feature, and subsequently won the audience award at Seminci International Film Festival, Valladolid and an Irish Film and Television award (IFTA).

Five and a Half Love Stories…

In 2023 Alicia co-produced Tomas Vengris’ highly anticipated second feature, FIVE AND A HALF LOVE STORIES IN AN APARTMENT IN VILNIUS, LITHUANIA. Following the success of Tomas’ debut (MOTHERLAND), ‘FIVE AND A HALF’ is a €1.5 million Irish/Lithuanian/Latvian co-production funded by Screen Ireland, the Lithuanian and Latvian Film Funds and Eurimages. The film premiered at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival 2023 where it won Best Film in the ‘Rebels With A Cause’ section.

Projects in development

Since 2022, Tiger Darling has been supported by Screen Ireland’s Creative Futures Slate Funding which has allowed us to grow the company’s ambitious slate of projects even further.

We are in the final stages of development with their next feature, ANIMA, a gripping psychological thriller also to be directed by Michael. They also have a number of other projects in late stage development including THIS YEAR’S MODEL, a low-fi sci-fi about an android carer on the run in rural Ireland; and THE PRETENDER, an ambitious historical television series with renowned UK TV director Philip John (DOWNTON ABBEY) attached as lead director.

We are also currently co-developing projects with established international companies such as Profile Pictures (Denmark) and Urban Factory (France).

Sustainability

Tiger Darling intends to operate in a manner that promotes sustainability across all of its processes. This means that the company will consider the environmental and societal effects of its actions in all decision making and will seek to grow a company that is built to thrive in the long-term. In short, the business seeks to grow by equally prioritising people, planet and profit.

Across all of our past productions significant emphasis was placed on reducing the carbon footprint of the production and measures were taken to promote recycling, and to reduce emissions and waste in accordance with Green Film and ALBERT guidance. Going forward, Tiger Darling will continue to focus on the environmental and societal impacts of our business. By minimising consumption and waste, actively using and promoting circular economy principles, and utilising new technologies, we aim to minimise emissions across all of our processes, meeting and exceeding global and national targets on a pathway to net zero.
